Another treat is the glimpses of rural life that travelers may observe as they cruise down the Li River. Herds of goats and buffalo graze along the banks. Locals fish using cormorants to locate and catch fish. Families swim in the river and picnic on the banks.
The trip ends in a quaint little town called Yangshuo. Although the town is touristy, it gives visitors insight into the lives of locals and a chance to buy some inexpensive gifts.
